This wall hugger retail display cart was designed for a very famous hospital called St Jude Children's Research Hospital in California. This RMU design came about because the hospital had a long, narrow hallway which didn't have enough room for a traditional cart. To address this challenge, Cart-King designed a display cart called a "wall hugger".
Designed for retail merchandising in narrow hallways
Wall huggers are open to the customer on three sides. They are long, narrow, and tall to make the most use of the smaller, more confined space available to them.
This retail cart measures roughly 10 foot long and 3 foot wide to accommodate merchandising in a narrow hallway without blocking the flow of traffic.
Every inch of space is carefully considered to maximize the display area and functionality.
An effective mobile retail display cart
In a good retail display cart that is publicly accessible day and night, there are some key considerations. First, the retail display needs to be effective. All elements of design need to be considered, including lighting to highlight the merchandise and the most efficient and attractive use of all the available space.
The base of the unit contained drawers with nickel plated handles. Up from that is a glass display showcase where the customer shows their more expensive items such as jewelry and other goods. The glass showcase is accessed by panel doors in the countertop. Above that is an expanse of slatwall display.
Slatwall displays enable a vendor to offer a variety of goods and the ability to mix and match their display to their requirement.
Within the canopy, there is high key directional lighting. These lights are used to illuminate the merchandise displayed on the slatwall.
Finally, the cart is built on a solid base with locking wheels. It is highly mobile and can be easily moved from location to location. Because of its narrow width, it can fit through standard commercial doorways with ease.
Merchandise security
To ensure that the retail display and its merchandise remains secure at night, Cart-King designed roll down doors. These roll down doors are made from extruded aluminum to match the clients color scheme. Using this style of doors on the cart ensured no impact on the available retail display area during operating hours.
